Does your child love the water? Trust Dive Academy to give them their first scuba diving experience in a safe, supportive environment designed just for kids. As a PADI Approved Youth Training Centre, we specialise in child-centred diving with patient instructors who focus on building confidence through fun engaging activities.
Safety first, always: all staff are first aid trained and DBS checked with full child protection policies in place. Our safeguarding lead Louise is happy to chat about our approach at any time.
What will they do?
The instructor will help your child to get comfortable with child-sized equipment designed just for them, including child-size jackets, lighter regulators and smaller scuba tanks. In the pool, they'll discover the joy of breathing underwater and play amazing underwater games. We focus on building their confidence at their own pace in a fun, supportive environment.
What happens when I book?
You'll receive an email with all your booking details and everything you need to know for the day.
Simply arrive at your chosen location by the start time, we'll take care of the rest. While your child enjoys their underwater adventure, we're happy to chat about their next steps, including our PADI Seal Team programme that runs fortnightly during term time and during school holidays.

Do I need experience to try diving?
Not at all! Our PADI Discover Scuba experience is specifically designed for complete beginners - it's your perfect introduction to the underwater world. In our safe, controlled pool environment, our expert PADI instructors will guide you through everything step-by-step, ensuring you feel completely comfortable and confident underwater.
This is training that's all about you, not us - we'll go at your pace and make sure you're relaxed before we even get in the water.
What do I need to bring?
We've got you covered! All scuba equipment is provided for your Discover Scuba experience. Just bring swimwear, a t-shirt or rash guard to wear in the pool, your towel and most importantly a sense of adventure!
Everything else - from masks and fins to tanks and regulators - is included in your experience.
Is this a good family activity?
Absolutely! Discover Scuba is perfect for creating unforgettable family memories. Children can start their underwater adventure from age 8 with our Bubblemaker experience, making it a fantastic activity for family members of all ages to enjoy together.

I have a medical condition/take prescription medication. Can I still try diving?
Most people can safely enjoy scuba diving. Every participant completes a medical questionnaire before their experience - even for pool-only sessions. If needed, we'll guide you through getting doctor's approval.
Your safety is our absolute priority, so we want to ensure diving is right for you. Complete the medical questionnaire before booking your experience.
What happens next?
Once you've caught the diving bug (and we're confident you will!), your underwater journey can continue:
For adults: Progress to the PADI Open Water Diver course and become a qualified diver, opening up a whole world of underwater exploration.
For children aged 8-9: Join our PADI Seal Team Club, where they'll continue building skills and confidence in our heated pool environment.

Do I have to complete a Discover Scuba before Open Water Diver?
Great question! Many students love starting with Discover Scuba because it helps to build confidence in a relaxed, no-pressure environment where you can experience breathing underwater and using scuba equipment will deciding if diving is for you.
But if you're ready to dive straight into the full Open Water Diver course, that's absolutely fine too - it's designed for complete beginners and no experience is needed to get started. Our training is all about you and your comfort levels.
